{Monomorium fastidium}{original description}.

WORKER - TL 1.4 mm (Bolton, 1987).

NOTE - Bolton's criteria for separation of fastidium from Monomorium mictilis do not hold up - notably the latter having the head with a depressed profile and that the mictilis head is broadest immediately behind the eyes and gradually narrows both anteriorly and posteriorly from that point - are not supported by the Antweb type specimen photographs; - it seems from Bolton's notes that he did not examine the mictilis type specimen.

The photomontage of the holotype is collated from http://mcz-28168.oeb.harvard.edu/mcz/FMPro?-DB=Image.fm&-Lay=web&-Format=images.htm&Species_ID=33371&-Find.
